First off, might as well say it: the japanning on this plane isn’t the best-looking ever. A little patchy like a teenager growing a “beard.” On the flip side, all that patch is 100% original, left just as time has left it. And it’s really not so bad looking after all.
The rest of the plane is as near-perfect as it gets. Nothing amiss anywhere and some damn nice rosewood furniture. Plus, if you plan on taking whisper-thin shavings with this big boy, it has a super tight mouth (stop giggling!).
