So, crazy story. We had a Tarot Card reading by this amazing psychic and, long story short, ended up on an “Ascendence Quest” with the odd mission of finding the perfect Brattleboro Block Plane. So, that’s what we eat, sleep, and whatever else these days, searching like our lives depend on it. Sadly, we’ve yet to accomplish the mission. But we’re getting close, as this lovely little example will attest.
Beautiful condition with lots of original japanning, a distinctive and intact “flower petal” (our term) front knob, and original iron. These delicate little creatures are especially susceptible to losing chips off the lever cap knob, and this one’s true to that bummer with about ½ of the upper knob “sun rays” (our term) chipped off. Now that we look at this one again, however, I think we’re going to win the Ascendence Quest right now. Perfection is an illusion. And it's totally subjective. So, this Brattleboro is perfect, just the way it is. Mission accomplished.
